Comments: Sphinx looks like Alfred A. Newman. Visually interesting. Feels like an "A" Terry pic. Nice backgrounds, full feeling animation. Hot lady pussies; Gandy wants them too. Backgrounds and characters pop back and forth, but on purpose. Very much a Sourpuss cartoon, in spite of the GG before the opening. Cool dance numbers in Terry cartoons are by Jim Tyer; Carlo Vinci? FX in this with disappearing (non popping).

I don't get the aspect ratio of the files on Archive.org . It is presumably wrong, but I can't figure out how. That's some flabby punching. Was it exciting back then before they had gotten down more effective ways of filming fight scenes?

Comments: Central Park in the gay '90s. Redheaded Gibson girl Eleanor goes for Phineas Filch the green skinned villain who she seems to like and who seems successful, not Waldo Stout the buffoon who sells newspapers. Inappropriately recycles animation within the cartoon. The say what you see score is kinda cool. Columbia cartoons start with text more often than others in 1943, I think (except for Clampett). Feels like a Jay Ward cartoon in some ways. Like Cartoons Ain't Human, recycling the old ratbone deal. Why? I'm not sure why the title is what it is.

Synopsis: When it's cat versus dog, bird wins. Except he also loses.














Comments: Everyone looks oddly designed for WB, tho they all look WB. The dog looks similar to the dogs in Hi Diddle Diddle. The animals don't have very good plans. Backgrounds are quality, but odd. Air raid warden joke. It's winter in this thing. Almost like proto characters (granny, tweety, sylvester). Horrific teeth prison at the end. My instinct is a cartoon with hiss in the title should have a snake, but I can see how it could be for a cat; I wonder if it's an individual thing, or a shift in the zeitgeist.
